What We Believe...

We believe the Bible to be the complete, inerrant, and inspired Word of God, the standard by which to measure all human conduct, creeds and opinions, and the standard by which we are to live our lives.

We believe in and worship the one true and living God, revealed in the Bible, Creator of everything, Who is eternal, holy, wise and all-powerful, all knowing and present everywhere. We believe in the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe God the Father loves us each as individuals and saves from sin and eternal death all who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ.  We believe that the Son, existing eternally, was born of the virgin Mary; Jesus was both God and man, lived a sinless life, was filled with grace and truth, was put to death on a cross as a sacrifice for sin, and rose bodily from the tomb on the third day. After forty days He ascended from earth directly into the presence of God the Father. Jesus Christ will visibly return to earth according to His promise.  We believe God the Holy Spirit accomplishes God's work in the hearts and lives of men and women. He both unifies and equips the church according to His pleasure.

We believe that God created every person in His image. But mankind chose to sin and is subject to the consequences of sin, both physical (decline, disease, death) and spiritual (hostility toward God, condemnation by God's law and separation from eternal life). But God gave His own Son to pay for sin so that all who believe in Him will not perish but have eternal life, fellowshipping with Him now and in eternity. We believe that all who reject Christ will be forever separated from God in a place of torment that the Bible calls Hell. We believe that Satan, a fallen angel, and his followers seek to oppose God and His work with all their strength. However, the Holy Spirit protects each believer against ultimate loss.

We believe that the church is composed of regenerate people. The local church is a gathering of believers united together to worship God, provide fellowship, teach the Scriptures, and proclaim the Gospel of Christ throughout the world. We believe in baptism by immersion as a sign of our union with Christ in His death and resurrection, and in the Lord's Supper, a commemoration of His death and resurrection and anticipation of His coming again.

The Mount Hope Baptist church exists to honor God by sharing the Gospel throughout our community, with our county, across the United States and around the world, and by assisting Christians in their spiritual growth through Bible study, corporate worship, fellowship, concerted prayer, opportunities for service, stewardship, the exercise of spiritual gifts, and commitment to a local congregation.
